Israel's Industry, Trade and Labor Ministry is calling upon Israeli technology companies in the area of climate change to take part in the Chicago Climate Action Plan.
The commercial attaché of the Israeli Industry, Trade and Labor Ministry in Chicago is handling relevant proposals by Israeli companies out of which 15 will be invited to present their technologies to the environment representative of the city of Chicago.
The Chicago Climate Action Plan is a comprehensive and detailed strategy to help lower greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) by 80% by the year of 2050 and address climate change. To achieved the desired 80% reduction, an initial goal of a 25% reduction below 1990 levels by 2020 has been proposed, a mid-term goal that was far enough in the future to allow time for major infrastructure and behavioral changes, but soon enough to ensure we are on the right course. The plan builds on the many efforts the city and its partners have already implemented to make Chicago the most environmentally friendly city in the nation.
The city of Chicago is particularly interested in waste to energy projects and technologies for the management of environment data.
The Chicago Climate Action Plan is seeking for technologies to implement five strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to climate changes:
1. ENERGY EFFICIENT BUILDINGS
Green technologies to reduce energy use in buildings as well as water and electricity savings.
2. CLEAN AND RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES
Turn to cleaner and renewable energy sources
3. IMPROVED TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS
Usage of a variety of transportation modes and cleaner vehicles
4. REDUCED WASTE AND & INDUSTRIAL POLLUTION
Technologies to prevent, reduce, reuse and recycle
5. ADAPTATION
Minimize and prepare citizens for the impact of climate change
